The 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms. At the same time, possessing or using a gun requires great care because of the risk of catastrophic injury or death in an accidental shooting. In 2017, 39,773 people were shot in the United States. Unintentional shootings accounted for 486 of those shootings, according to the CDC.
Idaho Code §18-3307 provides that a victim of a shooting, or the heirs in the case of death, may be entitled up to double damages from the person who is responsible for the shooting.
